If you are considering running a restaurant, mobile food unit, or temporary food service as a part of a direct farm business, the Illinois Food Sanitation Code for Food Service regulations apply to your operation.  The Retail Food Stores regulations apply to retail food stores.

The food service and retail food stores regulations were developed pursuant to the Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, the Sanitary Food Preparation Act, and the Food Handling Regulations Enforcement Act.

Additional county public health regulations also may apply to the operation, and may require a county health permit.  For an example of Champaign County, Illinois regulations and permit requirements that cover operations such as restaurants, farmer's markets, seasonal/temporary food service, and bake sales, click here.
